We don’t have to tell you that there are a lot of games at E3 (But we just did. We love stating the obvious). But of all the genres present, shooters seem to be especially out in force. It can be hard to keep track of all these bad boys, so here’s a quick rundown of the biggest shooters making an impact at E3 2010.

Shooters these days take themselves pretty seriously. Bulletstorm looks to flip the script with insanely over-the-top action and a sense of humor that it always wears on its sleeve. Not just tasking you with shooting enemies, Bulletstorm wants you to toy with your enemies and shoot with creativity and style. You’ll get a kick (quite literally, you’ll see) out of this one. Get a brief glimpse in our recap of the EA Press Event. Plus, they’re giving away free burgers. Nice.

The calling card of the original Crysis was its amazing graphics. Few shooters look this good. Crysis 2 takes it a step further, bringing the fight to NYC with those beautiful graphics now in 3D and the promise of some of the most intelligent enemies you’ll ever face. Unlike the first Crysis, you’ll be able to enjoy this one on your Xbox 360 or PS3; no incredibly powerful PC required. It’s another Call of Duty. ‘Nuff said. You know the drill. Check out the latest trailer or our video interview with Josh Olin from Treyarch to get a closer look at Call of Duty: Black Ops.

After a brief hiatus, EA is looking to bring back Medal of Honor with a vengeance. Moving away from the series staple World War II setting, the new Medal of Honor takes place in modern day Afghanistan, and the time off and change of setting should help the franchise rejoin the big boys of the shooter genre. You’ll be waiting ‘til the fall to play the new Medal of Honor, but you can get into the beta in just a handful of days, and you can get psyched up with this trailer.

Halo is back in a big way with the prequel Halo: Reach. Reach is full to the brim with first-person action in a thrilling single player campaign and in a slew of new and old multiplayer modes. But in a first for the franchise, Halo: Reach will also have space combat, which we’ve seen for the first time at E3. Turns out you CAN teach an old shooter new tricks. Need a refresher on the story of Halo? Let us catch you up and then get fired up with the trailer.

The Gears of War trilogy reaches its finale next year with Gears of War 3, and the game looks to wrap things up in epic fashion. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got three friends on stand-by on your Xbox Live friends list, because if E3 is any indication, playing the campaign in 4-player co-op looks to be the way go. We’ve got a trailer and a primer on the story to get you wound up for Gears of War 3.

The big story of Killzone 3 at E3 is appropriately 3D. Sony wowed show-goers with a demo of the game in three dimensions. But even in two dimensions this PS3 shooter has everything Killzone 2 had and more with more action, more incredible set pieces and more Helghast to square off against. Oh, and we almost forgot, perhaps most importantly, jetpacks!

If you’re anything like us, the original Dead Space scared the heck out of you. Expect more of the same from Dead Space 2, which is packing all kinds of new creepy crawlies (also known as necromorphs, but we find our name less scary), and the requisite chills and thrills. We closed our eyes during this part, but we’ve been told EA showed off some new gameplay footage at their press event.

Ubisoft insists that all the cool technology you’ll be using in the newest Ghost Recon game already exists today in some form. So by their account militaries out there are currently working with invisible exoskeletons, advanced combat drones and much more. Frankly, we don’t care if they’re telling the truth or not, because either way, using the tech in the game looks to be awesome.

From the “future soldier” to the shooter of the past, you’ll feel young again when you see the new reimaging of Goldeneye that has been revealed for Wii. The game appears to pay homage to the original N64 classic in many ways, while bringing the gunplay into the present with online play and many other new features. If you like a little psychological horror with your first person shooting then F.E.A.R. 3 is the game for you. Shaking up the F.E.A.R. formula, F.E.A.R. 3 follows the trend of many big shooters and adds co-op play as a crucial element. As two brothers with very different abilities – one is packing super soldier status and big guns, the other crazy telekinetic powers – each player will get a very different experience and will play a unique role in co-op. Control your fear and check out the trailer for F.E.A.R. 3.

That’s a quick breakdown of some of big shooters at E3, but if you’re still feeling trigger happy, there are other games on display too.
